As we all know, life likes to throw us curve balls. And in my case, it threw me a baby… at 23. How happy I am that it wasn’t any earlier in my life and that I was in a five year committed relationship to a man who soon became my fiancé. Nine months after the birth of my little girl, Mallory, I took a leap of faith by ending my relationship in hopes to find my Frog Prince. Breaking up, what had turned into my little family, was the hardest obstacle I have ever had to overcome. But, I knew that my dreams and hopes were very different from my daughters dads and that this would be the best for all three of us.
Fast forward seven years and I have become a well established woman with an ever entertaining, drama queen of a daughter. I was able to continue my schooling, graduating with a degree in Communications (which I believe is where my love for writing was discovered) all while working full-time and being a single mommy. Who says we can’t do it all!
Through the years, my family and friends have been my support system, providing me with advise, knowledge, or simply a listening ear. I’ve also established a great relationship with Mallory’s dad, Matt, and her step-mom, Audrey. The relationship formed between the three of us highly benefits Mallory and makes our lives a whole lot simpler. (You have no idea how many times we’ve caught our little miss trying to get away with something only to be busted, by what we anticipated to be an innocent conversation. Muahahahaha.)
Being a single mom, I’ve also have had to adjust my daily habits to fit more within a healthy lifestyle. Not only for my self-developed shallow reasons, but to also set an example for my daughter. So, I’ve tried to learn as much as possible about what being “healthy” incorporates. Now, I venture outside of my comfort zone and
actually cook try to experiment with different recipes in hopes to create something healthy, yet tasty enough for my seven-year old (only to fail more times than I can count). I’ve also succumbed to including exercise into my, already hectic daily schedule, any way I can. It could be taking advantage of an instructor-lead class in the always cool indoors, or simply embracing the outdoors requiring much self-motivation. Thanks to this healthy lifestyle I have adapted, I was able to bounce back to my pre-babybump body and have gained a love for style.
I feel I have a lot to be proud of as a single mom, and am simply using this blog to express my loves, interests, and experiences.
